Coil-top Stool

This stool is inspired by the 1960’s coil-top stove in my childhood home. When I had the opportunity to do metalworking while at RISD, I wanted to experiment with cold-forming steel, and attempting to form a large spiral seemed like an excellent challenge. I spent the majority of my allotted time experimenting with different ways to form the coil, only succeeding after numerous failed prototypes and methods.
