Live Chair

When designing this chair, I wanted to create a chair that would react and conform to the user without using upholstery or fabrics. After much experimentation with hinges, springs, and other hardware, I arrived at using living hinges. By strategically removing material in each element of the chair, it’s able to move and spring without the need for upholstery or complex hardware.

This is another project where I really embraced my iterative design method. The first completed version of the Chair was Version 5, and I revisited it again before it first went on display as V6.
