The first of three major projects in the Iris series; all structured from a doubled-triangle scissor mechanism. This is the purest of the three in showcasing how a pair of triangles, joined at the tips with five other pairs, will form a structure that expands like an iris.

In this cabinet, the iris forms a “skin” that covers the structure below. By pulling on the brass knobs at the center, the skin pulls away and reveals the skeletal latticework of shelves within, waiting to hold and protect precious keepsakes.
